Bird paradise
Het 'Landje van Geijsel' is located in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel near the A9 and the Ouderkerkerplas. At the beginning of February the water level is raised so that there is a layer of water on the land until May. This attracts all kinds of waders and ducks like a magnet. Birds returning from Southern Europe and Africa land here to feed. They also like to sleep here because this is a safe place. Godwits (sometimes several thousand), oystercatchers, ruffs, lapwings, wigeons, pintails and many other species can be admired here. There have even been nesting stilts. The Bird Working Group Ouderkerk aan de Amstel is active in providing information from the bird watching shed, which is open in early spring.
