Water, grasslands and wooded areas at newly developed nature reserve Braakman Zuid. An ideal habitat for birds and smaller mammals. Originally a large tidal inlet in the middle of Zeelandic Flanders, the Braakman now has shrunk to a remnant due to successive empolderings, and was finally closed off from the sea in 1952. In Braakman south, a new nature reserve area is now developing due to reverse allocation of farmland to go back to wilderness.
